About Reiki: Reiki is derived from an ancient form of energy healing that originated in Japan over 2,500 years ago. Channeling the universal life force, Reiki practitioners work with their hands to restore our blocked energy centers (chakras) to promote true mind and body healing. Reiki is a relaxation and stress reduction technique that helps regulate the nervous system. When we are in a state of deep rest and relaxation, our body's innate healing abilities work more optimally. This leads to accelerated healing, reduction of pain, decreased symptoms, as well as emotional and psychological wellness. Complementing other forms of medicine and often working when other methods have failed, Reiki balances the body's life force energy to promote healing and overall mindbody wellness.
What to prepare: Loose, comfortable clothing is recommended, but not required. You will be asked to remove your shoes and silence your phone. You may also be asked to remove large jewelry and eyeglasses for treatment. Please feel free to bring a comfortable pillow, blanket, or grounding amulet for your comfort.
What to expect: First time appointments are 85 minutes long, and return appointments are 55 minutes long. An intake and consent form is linked on the scheduling page. Please fill out the intake and consent form at least 24 hours prior to your first appointment. You will also be asked to sign a physical consent form when you arrive.
A few minutes at the start of each session will be set aside to understand your needs, concerns, and goals. You will then be asked to lie on your back on a massage table with the use of props and supports as needed. Depending on your comfort, Noshaba will gently place their hands directly on you or over you without touching to provide treatment, while playing calming music. You may feel sensations like heat, tingling, or pulsing where their hands are or throughout your body. Noshaba might incorporate other holistic healing techniques based on your needs and only with your consent. These techniques may include yoga nidra (a type of restful guided meditation), breath work, sound healing, and somatic release. While you'll probably experience a shift after the first session, 3-8 weekly or biweekly sessions are typically recommended to experience the full benefits of Reiki.
Please note: Reiki is not a massage therapy and it is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment.
