Counseling

CWHC has offered counseling services since 1989, with an emphasis on both education and self-help. We offer individual counseling, options counseling and crisis counseling, as well as groups and workshops. Individual counseling sessions are typically weekly, 50-minute sessions.
After a phone consultation, you’ll come to CWHC for an in-office “intake” appointment where we’ll learn a little more about you and what brings you to counseling, and offer you the opportunity to ask questions about the way we work.

Our Approach

Our feminist and person-centered counseling approach stresses equality in the counseling relationship. We see our role as providing support and insight into a client's experiences, seeing the client’s self-determination and innate strengths as integral parts of the therapeutic work and relationship. We pay particular attention to clients' concrete needs as well as the impact of various forms of oppression such as gender oppression, racism, classism and homophobia.

Our Counselors

CWHC's counselors are master's/Psy.D level clinicians, clinical interns completing their master’s/Psy.D level training or volunteer counselors donating their time in the counseling program. Our counselors work with a range of presenting issues including depression, anxiety, childhood trauma, sexual assault, domestic violence, relationships, gender, sexuality and health concerns.

Groups & Workshops

For information on our upcoming therapy groups and workshops, see the Group & Workshop Schedule.

CWHC is committed to providing services that meet the needs of our clients, and what better way to evaluate these needs than hearing directly from you! Please help us by filling out this brief survey so that we may offer therapy groups that are relevant to you. Thank you so much!
